TopShop enters into the west coast, at one of top tourists spots, Las Vegas. Topshop opened its third US store (the other two are in NY and Chicago) today in the Fashion Show mall. David Shepherd, Topshop's managing director, believes that Topshop is more fashion forward than its competitors who are generating revenue at the Fashion Show mall, hence one of the reasons they chose retail space there. Topshop is expected to open a location in Orange County, CA at The Grove sometime this year in the fourth quarter. The Las Vegas Topshop location will help to build brand awareness among Los Angeles residents who go to Vegas for weekend getaways. The product will vary between the three US stores, Las Vegas targeting the customer who likes glitz and glamour, New York targeting the fashionista, and Chicago targeting the more straightforward casual customer. Topshop plans to have between 15-20 stores in the US. (WWD)

Jean Paul Gaultier Joins Diet Coke as Creative Director

The Coca-Cola company has named Jean Paul Gaultier creative director of it's Diet Coke brand in Europe. Gaultier will design bottles and cans, as well as playing a role in ad campaigns, social media, contribute retail ideas. The bottles are in the shape of a woman's body, the first limited edition designs will be released next month in Europe. (WWD)


Tommy Hilfiger is American Idol's Image Advisor

American Idol is attempting bring its show full circle by hiring on Tommy Hilfiger as an image advisor. To be a star you have to have to total package, so bringing on a image advisor is a good move for American Idol. It also gives the show something its competing shows don't have. Don't think because it's Tommy Hilfiger that the contestants will only be outfitted in his label, thats not the case. Each contestant has a different style that might not be subject to Hilfger's label, so other labels will also be used. You can catch Hilfiger on the show next week. (WWD)
